How to Drive an Automatic Car Step by Step
1. Before Starting the Car
Sit comfortably and adjust your seat so you can reach pedals easily.
Adjust mirrors (rear-view and side mirrors).
Put on your seatbelt.
Make sure the gear shift is in P (Park) and the parking brake is on.
2. Starting the Engine
Press the brake pedal with your right foot.
Turn the ignition key or press the start button.
Keep your foot on the brake.
3. Getting Ready to Move
Release the parking brake.
Move the gear shift from P (Park) to D (Drive).
Check mirrors and surroundings.
4. Moving Forward
Slowly release the brake — the car will start moving slowly (this is called creep speed).
Gently press the gas pedal to move faster.
Keep both hands on the steering wheel (at “9 and 3” position).
5. Slowing Down & Stopping
To slow down, gently press the brake pedal.
To stop completely, press the brake fully.
If stopping for a long time, keep your foot on the brake or shift back to P (Park).
6. Parking
Press the brake fully.
Shift gear to P (Park).
Apply the parking brake.
Turn off the engine.

Always look around before moving.

Don’t press gas and brake at the same time.
